Okay just joking.

This was the worst ever ski season I have encountered.

Add that to the fact that skiing on the west coast of canada was not so
flash the past season, and it all spells trouble to the ski resorts.

Blame global warming.

It is not going to get better I fear, what with the drought now
entering its 6th!!!!! year.

Anyone for the beach?

Oh I forgot Canadians don't have beaches only logs. About time you
fellas come over here for a visit and maybe imigrate. We are short of
engineers and scientists.

Wasn't epic, but it had its moments. The season before was a disaster for
the entire Pac Northwest. BC interior survived, but barely.

Not quite Malibu, but the ski resorts here aren't quite Vail and thats kind
of the point isn't it?
If I choose todrive more than 45 minutes from my front door I could find a
few more.

Um....no. There are some pretty nice beaches along the Lake Huron
Shoreline.

The skiing's nothing to write home about, but the beaches are nice.

Let's hope Whistler is fantastic in January.

yep, [perisher is] the biggest of our few humble ski resorts.
It was the resort that held out the longest for the season - just one day later
than Falls Creek and a week later than Mt Hotham. Through-out 2006, I went 5 times
to the snow (all the way from Adelaide) and apart from the trip I made to Mt
Selwyn during the mid-year school holidays, all the other trips coincided with
some snow falls. I ended up having a decent time and it was worth the 12 hour trip
each time.

....hey!!....that was a fast reply.....I thought no-one would read anything in
here until the next OZ snow season.

I do work in the Alpine area so it is a working holiday (so to speak). Plus, I
own a 12-seater bus and so I took other people with me and they paid me enough
money so that my fuel costs were covered.

I live in Perth - it's a plane fare for me, there's no way I'm driving 40
hours for anything! I can't wait to get back to Melb.

Fair enough....and the way the snow season went this year, the snow would have
melted by the time you got there.....hahaha.

Ski. I tried snowboarding in 2004 at Hotham (bloody awesome snow) only
because I got shin splints and couldn't ski. Snowboarding looks like fun
but my time at the snow is too precious to spend alternating between my
face and arse buried in the snow :)

I was lucky enough to be at Falls in the first week of August - the only
week that was even half decent - so I'm pretty happy about that. Whistler
in January 07 - oooo yeah.

respective snow conditions and landscape.

That sounds like an expensive excess baggage bill. :-/

Although if you fly to/from/via North America, you get to take two bags
in econ. class, not the normal one.

Quite right.....although I saw some good tips in a magazine about how to fly with
a snowboard (considered oversize/overweight) but in the normal airfare without
being charged extra. I'll try what they say and if it works, I will post the tips
here!!

Any tips on getting a second 20kg bag full of equipment on an economy
flight with AirNZ in December? :)

My brother did stacks of kayaking around the world through-out the 90s.
One time (on a Qantas plane) his boat "wouldn't fit" so to get it in the
hold they snapped the front 1 foot off the nose of the boat - a rather
expensive Canadian boat made of moulded kevlar, which obviously couldn't
be fixed to quite its original condition. ;)

And yes, he'd paid the excess baggage for it. :)

hmmm.....nah.

I'll probably take just my wide MadHouse board seeing as it seems to "float" in
power snow - but it's not so good in tight corners. I love the Santa Cruz board
as well.

Indeed. And every time I'd hear that "crack" and "scape" I'd be worried
next time it'd be my butt going over one of those exposed rocks and not
the hire skis. ;)

Well, we do know what happened to that cunt, Scott Abraham. "Two Holes"
is still chasing his own fat ass on RSA. Ya know if you had put all
that time to good use, you could have had that job you always dreamed
of (and were qualified for) - like head usher at the local movie
theater or bus boy at Taco Bell.
