I was up at the Perisher trails this weekend, and had to admire all the
roadwork done over Summer.
Got to walk, barefoot, on snow outside the lodge I stayed in on Saturday
night.

They've been putting a lot of work into the area lately.

I forgot my arsewipe a week ago on an overnite trip. First time I've
felt a snow ball in the tender spot for a few years. Forgot how good it
works though.

Opps meant to say 120mm. Yep it has started. The main rainge was
covered when I went there today. In places near the top of Thredbo, I
sank down to my knee. Did not proceed to the top because I was ill
prepared. Saw some hikers head towards Kosy hauling skiis. Filmed 3
dudes snowboarding at the Perisher. Well OK they only did about 20
metres, but hell they must have been the first for the season.

Hi Andy!
I still wear my 'aus.snow' badge!
I must admit you had me going with the cm instead of mm !!
Can't wait for the winter proper.
And hope the group stays relatively crap-free.
Hope to see you up there with my new Subaru which I pick up next month!
Martin.

We made it to the snow at this time (in April, 2006) and it was before the
snow season started - it was great fun except we had to walk up the mountain
after each run. Although, we did have a go on one of the runs where the
service vehicles were going up and down on their temporary track and so we
had one person drive up the mountain and drop us all off, then drive down
the mountain to pick us up - we repeated this until a worker at the resort
told us to leave.

Yeah, sure, but the wind was clocking about 100 kph over the top of the Main
Range! We were camped just under Carruthers, in a lightweight summer tent,
and it shook a little... We subsequently got over 200 mm of snow further
north.

Cheers
